This section provides an introduction to the dynamics of Japanese verbs, how they are conjugated and their usage in Japanese. In Japanese the verb always comes at the end of the clause or sentence.

-て (request/directive form)
When the -て form is used informally as a request/directive, it's conjugation is no different than when it is used as a conjunctive but it's application differs. To make it formal simply add -下さい:

Group 1 - Vowel Stem Verbs
 見る

[mite kudasai]
 食べる

Group 2 - Consonant Stem Verbs
 話す

The following examples show how the -て form is used as a request/directive:

  1. ちょっと待って!
      [chotto matte!]
      Wait a second!

  2. 漢字を綺麗に書いて下さい。
      [kanji o kirei ni kaite kudasai.]
      Please write the kanji neatly.
